Congratulations to Wilson Central / Brentwood Academy for being chosen the Nashville Predators Team of the Month for November

The story of the origination of this team only goes back a few years, but the hope of one day having a competitive ice hockey team came to pass first as a coop school with Mt. Juliet, then Siegel and now with Brentwood Academy. Some of these players, both male and female, have been playing since they were mites, squirts and some of them are only this year, stepping on the ice. Players from previous years help on the ice preseason and attend games. They become webmasters and photographers and assistant coaches.

As a coop, no players are cut from the roster. Our Coaches, John Bracey and Shawn Versluis, both work hard to ensure they all get a chance to play; both in a regular game and setting up JV games for the freshman and newer players. They prepare off ice training, strength training and volunteer their time through all of it; without complaint. They have the determination to provide these players with the skills needed for hockey and truly, will go with them through life.

The players on the team are very passionate and dedicated about the sport they love. The team has even organized fundraisers from car washes to bake sales to help raise funds for their league fees. The parents work together to make sure the new players have everything they need, sharing equipment, explaining how things work, helping the freshman parents and players feel welcome. Parents work closely with the school trying to get the team actively participating in school events and pep rally. Although hockey is a non-traditional high school sport in the South, word is getting out, the players talk to the student body and students come support the team at games.

Nominations are now being accpeted for the Youth Hockey Player, Vollunteer and Team of the Month for December
