2007-2008 Schedule Format

2007-10-10

Due to the increased number of teams, the need for more teams to play likekind competition and wanting all teams to have a chance to compete in a yearend tournament, GNASH is implementing a new game-scheduling format this season.

During the first half of season (nine games) the league will be divided into North and South Divisions. All ten teams in the North Division will play each other in a round-robin format. All ten teams in the South Division will play each other in a round-robin format. At the end of nine games and based upon existing seeding

rules of league, the top five teams from the North Division and the top five teams from the South Division will form the Gold Conference. The remaining teams will form the Blue Conference.

All ten teams in the Gold Conference will play each other in a round-robin format for an additional nine games. All ten teams in the Blue Conference will play each other in a round-robin format for an additional nine games.

The season ending, GNASH Cup will be composed of twelve teams. All teams from the Gold Conference will qualify and will be seeded from 1 -10 based upon existing seeding rules of league and will be based upon total record from the entire season (18 games). Seeds 11 and 12 will come from the top two finishers in the Blue Conference and will be based upon existing seeding rules of league taking into account the entire season (18 games). The remaining eight teams will play a season ending single elimination tournament for the GNASH Blue Conference Championship.

Again, the impact of this change will allow teams to play more .like-kind competition. This is why there is 5A football and 2A football in order to achieve more fairness in competition. Also, every team has a goal they can strive for until the very end of the season.
